Delhi Capitals Pull Off Highest Successful Chase in IPL History to Stun LSG in Vizag
Delhi Capitals scripted history by registering their highest-ever successful run chase in the IPL, stunning Lucknow Super Giants in Visakhapatnam. LSG appeared in complete control for most of the second innings, but DC turned the game on its head with a remarkable fightback.
After a disastrous start at 7/3 in the powerplay and 65/5, it seemed like DC’s chase was all but over. However, Axar Patel, Tristan Stubbs, and IPL debutant Vipraj Nigam kept the innings alive, setting the stage for Ashutosh Sharma’s match-winning blitz.
This was only the second time Delhi chased down a 200-plus total in IPL history, surpassing their previous best of 209 against Gujarat Lions in 2017, when a young Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson dismantled the opposition at Kotla.

Punjab Kings Lead in 200-Plus Chases, but DC’s Stunning Win Boosts Confidence Under Axar Patel
While Punjab Kings remain at the top with the most 200-plus run chases in IPL history (7), Delhi Capitals’ incredible victory over Lucknow Super Giants will provide a huge confidence boost to their new captain, Axar Patel, and the coaching staff. Despite missing key players KL Rahul and T Natarajan, DC pulled off a stunning heist, showcasing remarkable resilience.
Earlier, LSG seemed on course for a 230-240 total at 161/2 in 13 overs, with Mitchell Marsh (72) and Nicholas Pooran (75) blazing through the DC attack. However, the Capitals turned the game around in the last seven overs, conceding just 48 runs while taking six wickets, restricting LSG to 209/8.
LSG’s inexperienced bowling attack ultimately cost them, leaving Rishabh Pant and his team with plenty to ponder ahead of their next clash against the formidable Hyderabad side, who are looking to dominate IPL 2025.
