Hardik Pandya Scripts History with Maiden Five-Wicket Haul, But LSG Post 203/8 in IPL 2025 Clash : Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Hardik Pandya delivered a sensational bowling performance, claiming his maiden five-wicket haul in T20 cricket. However, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) rode on stellar half-centuries from Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram to post a competitive 203/8 in their IPL 2025 clash on Friday.
Pandya’s impressive spell of 5/36 saw him dismiss key LSG batters, including Markram (53 off 38), Nicholas Pooran (12), Rishabh Pant (2), David Miller (27), and Akash Deep (0). His heroics helped MI put the brakes on LSG’s innings after opting to field first.

LSG’s Strong Start and MI’s Comeback
LSG got off to a flying start as opener Mitchell Marsh smashed his third half-century in four matches. His blistering 60 off just 31 balls, featuring nine boundaries and two sixes, set the tone for the innings.
With Markram also in good touch, LSG raced to 69/0 at the end of the powerplay. However, MI bounced back as Pandya made crucial bowling changes.
Left-arm wrist spinner Vignesh Puthur, who starred in MI’s win over Chennai Super Kings, was introduced in the seventh over. He immediately provided the breakthrough, dismissing Marsh with a brilliant caught-and-bowled effort, breaking a dangerous 76-run opening stand.
Pandya then stepped up, removing Pooran in the ninth over before dismissing LSG captain Rishabh Pant for just 2 runs. Substitute fielder Corbin Bosch took a sharp catch at mid-off after Pant failed to handle Pandya’s slower ball. Pant’s struggles continued, having scored 0, 15, and 2 in his previous three innings.
LSG were 107/3 in 10.4 overs when Pant fell. Markram, who had been steady until then, held one end together before being dismissed in the 18th over.
LSG’s Batting Highlights
Earlier, Deepak Chahar conceded 15 runs in his first over, with Marsh and Markram both finding the boundaries. Marsh continued his aggressive approach, taking Trent Boult and Mitchell Santner to the cleaners, smashing sixes and fours with ease.
Ashwani Kumar, MI’s young left-arm pacer who shone in their previous match, also faced the heat as Marsh hammered him for a six and a four in consecutive deliveries, bringing up his fifty in just 27 balls. Kumar ended up conceding 23 runs in that over.
Rohit Sharma Misses Out
MI’s veteran and India captain Rohit Sharma missed the match after suffering a knee injury during practice. His absence was a big setback for the five-time champions.
As the match progresses, all eyes will be on MI’s batting lineup and whether they can chase down LSG’s challenging target of 204.
